Sport Whanganui

InBody 570 has been instrumental in providing support and service for Sport Whanganui and the Whanganui District Health Board (WDHB), to deliver a new initiative that has potential to become implemented in other health sectors in New Zealand.

The Whanganui District Health Board, in partnership with Sport Whanganui, launched a new initiative called Fit For Surgery, Fit For Life. It is a programme to support people through their journey pre and post-surgery and bring about a lifestyle change that will see significantly overweight patients reduce their weight and lift their fitness levels for surgery while continuing to encourage and maintain these changes for the rest of their life. Having surgery is tough on your body and it takes a team approach to make sure surgery and recovery is successful with little or no complications. How people look after their body before surgery is important.

The criteria for Fit For Surgery is a simple criteria of height / weight and >40 BMI. However, while developing this new initiative with the Whanganui District Health Board, Sport Whanganui wanted to be able to capture more than just a person’s base line information. The InBody 570 provides this and much more relevant information and data with a comprehensive view of the body composition such as skeletal muscle, measurements, Body Balance, Visceral fat, body water, proteins, minerals, and body fat, all components of the human body closely relate to the status of our health.

The InBody scan is a non-threatening, non-evasive procedure for the person, provides viable data for continued control and information of health in preoperative and post-operative care of people who are registered on the Fit For Surgery programme.

The InBody 570 provides ‘real time’ data that is precise. This collection of data has been an influential asset that compliments Fit For Surgery, providing the necessary evidence for quantitative research and evaluation, but also providing precise documentation for Doctors / General Practitioners / Anaesthetists and Specialists.
With the use of the InBody, Fit For Surgery can work with people, inspire them, set goals and build an individual care plan allowing for review of person’s progress and any further support if required. The InBody 570 is a valuable motivational asset for the client.

InBody at the World Diabetes Day Member Forum

InBody at the World Diabetes Day Member Forum

InBody Body Composition Analysers recently had the privilege of being able to attend Diabetes NSW & ACT’s recent World Diabetes Day Member Forum. The one-day event had a stellar turnout, with hundreds of people attending to receive diabetes updates and management techniques. InBody’s presence allowed for many of the events attendees to participate in InBody scans and learn some valuable information regarding their body composition.

Diabetes NSW & ACT was founded in 1938 and is Australia’s largest member-based charity for people living with or at risk of diabetes. Diabetes NSW & ACT works proactively to improve the day-to-day lives of people living with diabetes with an aim to make things easier by educating carers, employers and the general public.

“I speak for all our Diabetes NSW & ACT staff who volunteered on the day when I say that Marcus took the InBody experience to a whole new level and impressed the hell out of everyone, both staff and attendees. He was so kind and patient with the crowd who queued for nearly 25 mins just to book in their scan. A true testament to his character and work ethic and I cannot wait to work with him again” said Sasha Hoffmann, Client Services Manager for Diabetes NSW & ACT.

“Due to the fact that Marcus helped make the day run so smoothly, and the fact that we were inundated with members begging to be booked in for their scan, we managed to scan approx. 105 (members.  As we had to turn away the rest of the attendees, Marcus very kindly agreed to get up on stage in the afternoon to discuss the InBody experience and how any who missed out can get involved as we were being inundated with questions on where they can get scanned etc.”

InBody Body Composition Analysers devices are making waves in the Medical, Corporate and Fitness industries throughout Australia and New Zealand as well as across the globe. “InBody provides a range of precise and extremely useful metrics of a person’s body composition, which are of paramount importance to monitor – particularly for a person with diabetes. Healthcare Professionals know high levels of Body Fat, particularly Visceral Fat can be problematic and are very important to monitor. InBody offers a precise measurement of these metrics to assist the Healthcare Professional. It was a pleasure for InBody to attend the event in Sydney and we look forward to working further with Diabetes NSW & ACT” InBody’s director, Greg Tottman, explains.

“An enormous thank you for InBody’s support and presence at our event, it was the highlight of the day and the most amazing experience for our incredible members.” Diabetes NSW & ACT

How You Can Fine-tune Your Clients Training Using InBody

How You Can Fine-tune Your Clients Training Using InBody

How do you define a good workout?

Within a gym environment, it is safe to say that most people will have a different interpretation of how they describe a good work out. These definitions can vary from having a good “pump”, being out of breath, how sweaty they get and whether or not they vomit at the end. While these can certainly indicate that you’ve worked hard, how do you know that what you’re doing is getting you closer to your goal?

When you get in a car, your objective is to go from “A” to “B”. If you jump in the car and drive it really hard, like doing burnouts, how do you know that you are getting closer to “B”?

In a car, you already know what “B” is but in a gym environment, many people do not know how to define what their “B” is, nor do they have an accurate means of measuring if the training they are doing is getting them closer to “B”. Just like driving a car where you are constantly monitoring you’re on the quickest path to reach your destination, it makes sense to do the same in a training environment – ensuring you’re on track and minimise wasted time in the gym.

InBody can fulfil both of those requirements.

When training your clients, you need a way to validate and fine-tune the training methods to make sure they are on track.

Having them do an InBody scan is the first step. This not only gives them their starting point, but you can also find their “B” and set them a realistic, informed goal from the beginning.

Each scan offers a comprehensive report, measuring over 40 parameters of the body – it not only measures how much body fat and muscle mass your client has, it also breaks this information down further to show you where both are stored throughout their body. This is a great way to see any imbalances that your client may have; for extreme imbalances, you may need to adjust their plan or incorporate certain exercises to bring the body parts into proportion.

Keep them on track.

InBody devices are a great tool to show clients their body composition so that it makes them more aware of where they are currently sitting, while also showing them that there is more to their “weight” than just a number on a scale. By breaking the information down into an easy-to-read result sheet, they can further understand what areas they need to work on – this creates leverage for change for the client but most importantly, they can monitor their improvement so they can keep motivated to continue on their journey to “B”.

Every Personal Trainer knows that you will not always have clients that follow your advice. InBody scans are a great way to identify if a client may be straying from their plan; you may have prescribed a plan that you know has had great success only to find that a client has had less than desirable results. When these precise results are right in front of them, it is difficult to deny that they weren’t following the advice provided.

What sets YOU apart from the rest?

When you’re a good trainer, you want results. Why do people leave the gym? Because they cant see these results. Although it may be obvious that their body composition is changing, they cant see the results for themselves.

By utilising an InBody device, you can continue tracking client results to prove that changes are happening and they are on track to reach their goal and, if not, you can make tweaks or changes to get them back on track straight away.

Current methods are a guess; whether you’re weighing yourself or looking in the mirror, these cannot prove definitively that your training plan is working, but with InBody’s standalone, patented technology, there is no denying what’s on paper.

InBody’s Top Tips For An Excellent Scanning Experience

InBody’s Top Tips For An Excellent Scanning Experience

With thousands of InBody devices located across Australia and New Zealand, we just wanted to check in to ensure you are receiving/delivering top level service. Whether you own an InBody device or utilise a mobile scanning service, there are some key factors to ensure the device you are using gives a precise measurement.

Here are our top tips.

1. InBody Certified Operator

We highly recommend only using InBody certified operators. These are people/businesses that have attended InBody’s operator training course. This is a one day course on the Gold Coast where the new operator learns extensively about the InBody technology, how to operate the device and, most importantly, how to interpret the results to your members. We arm them with all of our knowledge so they become absolute experts on their machines.  Each person attending the academy receives an InBody certified certificate as evidence of the training.

2. Stadiometer

It is vital each member gets their height measured on a stadiometer. A person’s height ideally should not be guessed as this will give them inconsistent results on the scan. InBody only sells body composition analysers accompanied by a stadiometer for this exact reason, so this should always be present at a scanning session. Unless your members have had their height measurement before and they are having a re-scan, a stadiometer should always be utilised.

3. InBody Tissues

The InBody tissues are used to wipe down your hands and feet where they make contact with the electrodes- this increases the conductivity. Without the tissues, it can be difficult for the electrical currents to flow through the skin. The InBody tissue also serves as an antibacterial wipe and therefore it should be absolutely necessary for hygiene purposes.

4. Result Sheets & Interpretation Guide

Each member should be provided with a printed result sheet and an interpretation guide. We have created these and encourage all InBody operators to pass this service on to each customer. We think receiving professionally printed material really adds to the scan experience and it means each one of your members can read further about each metric when they get home – having your first scan is such an eye-opening experience.

5. Personal Interpretation

There is an overwhelming about of content on an InBody scan. It is vital for your members to leave with the knowledge of what it all means, then you can assist with improvements. We teach all InBody certified operators the best way to conduct an interpretation of the scan result. This extensive explanation is to be passed on to each member who receives a scan.

6. Scan Under Same/Similar Conditions.

The interpretation guide provides guidelines for ideal conditions for scanning. The main one to be made aware of is never scan straight after training – we suggest waiting a minimum of three hours before scanning or, even better, scan before. You are presenting your body in a changed state straight after training that is very hard to replicate and therefore your measurements could be altered temporarily.

Nationwide ASN Integration

Nationwide ASN Integration

InBody Body Composition Analysers announce introduction of InBody devices into Australian Sports Nutrition (ASN) stores.

InBody Body Composition Analysers, the suppliers of medically graded Body Composition measurement devices, have announced the recent integration of InBody 570 Body Composition Analysers into 26 Australian Sports Nutrition (ASN) stores, in a nationwide rollout. By doing so, ASN will now be able to utilise the technology to validate their supplementation and training advice for their customers and clients.

The devices are currently being introduced into the ASN stores, with many of the new owners completing their InBody certified training at InBody’s Head Office on the Gold Coast. The rollout has been timed perfectly, with the store implementing the devices precise technology to track their client’s progress throughout their “60 Day Beach Body Challenge”.

ASN Toowoomba – “We are super excited to now have this amazing piece of equipment a permanent part of the shop and cannot wait for our customers to start using it!”

Australian Sports Nutrition are one of Australia’s most prominent supplement stores having been in business for over 15 years and during this time have earned a reputation for their expert advice and unrivalled customer care. Throughout their time in the industry, ASN have tried other brands of generic BIA devices and alternative methods to measure clients body composition changes and have found the InBody technology to reign supreme, resulting in the mass rollout of InBody machines.

“InBody has patented, standalone technology; With InBody, the reliability is unsurpassed as it measures you for you. We are very proud to be working with ASN and cannot wait to see the impact that they have on their clients results by using InBody technology to validate their advice and prove their expertise in their field.” said InBody Body Composition Analysers Director, Greg Tottman.

InBody Body Composition Analysers use bioelectrical impedance to measure over 40 different parameters in your body in under 60 seconds. You can find out how much muscle mass and body fat you hold in kilos, while also seeing where it is distributed throughout your body along with much more information. With frequent scanning, you are able to track your results to determine if any changes need to be made to your training or nutrition regime.

5 Mistakes To Avoid When Investing In A Body Composition Device

5 Mistakes To Avoid When Investing In A Body Composition Device

In this day and age, we want results fast, the latest technology, the best deal and we want it now! However, large investments for your business need careful consideration. With so many options on the market, it is vital that you do your research. You have put so much time, passion and energy into building your business and we know you don’t want this tarnished. A bad investment can cause unexpected damage to both a brand and reputation. Here are the top 5 mistakes to avoid when investing into a body composition device.

1. Assuming all BIA is the same

It is a common misconception that all BIA devices are the same. Bioelectrical Impedance analysis (BIA) works on the principle that electrical currents travel through the body and different elements (muscle, fat, water etc) have different levels of resistance. This determines your measurements. The resistance is measured as impedance values, which is located on the bottom right hand corner of your result sheet. Although generic BIA devices measure a component of a person’s body, they predominantly rely on their age and gender to form “assumptions” about someone in that demographic, as opposed to fully measuring them. This simply means the data that you have been asked to enter before a scan (age and gender), will determine your body composition measurement. If you were to perform two scans in a row and change that data by using a different age or gender, your scan results would change dramatically compared to your first scan, even though you have not changed at all. Your impedance, which is generally shown in the bottom corner, is still the same, yet the results are totally different.

How can this be?

You are the same person getting on and off, so your measurement shouldn’t change! The reason is that age and gender have been used to assume body composition measurements rather than actually measuring someone individually. Many devices claim using age and gender inputs, make it somehow more precise. However, you can now see this is just marketing hype. Age and gender is only asked on an InBody device to provide guidelines, so you can compare your actual measurements against age and gender suggested normal ranges.

Why does InBody stand out from the crowd?

InBody is unique as it has standalone, patented technology that allows a person to be precisely measured without relying on age and gender assumptions. If you were to do 2,3 or 4 scans in a row, with each time changing your age and gender, your measurement would be the same, as your impedance was the same over this timeframe. Again, you can check this on the bottom right hand corner of the result sheet. It’s really important to grasp this factor so you can be mindful of the damage incorrect scanning would create to your health club, medical facility or personal brand. If the results do not measure what may be obviously happening, eg. someone who has lost body fat and may have even put on muscle, yet the device says the opposite. If you have someone that does not sit within the assumption range on generic devices, the guess becomes particularly problematic as the results may show huge discrepancies. InBody utilises the actual impedance of a person, it’s important that calibration tests are performed. When starting an InBody device each day, it will perform a calibration test, this takes only minutes to complete. You will find when starting a generic device, it turns on straight away as there is no calibration being performed – you do not need calibration if you are utilising a pre-programmed device making assumptions about people.

2. Buying on price not technology

Many devices are marketed claiming that all BIA is the same. The downfall is that you are often led to believe that you can purchase a device for a cheaper price and get the same results.  With this marketing tactic, you assume that you can make comparisons between BIA devices, but as demonstrated in the previous point, you simply cannot. If the technology is not the same, then the comparison cannot be drawn and if the only reason you pick a device is based on price, you will be disappointed. We have worked with many different business’ who have bought an inferior device and have been impacted later by the damage it can do to their reputation and credibility. This is often a common occurrence when doing fitness challenges. All participants are scanned at the start of the challenge – this will give you a baseline for your client. At the end of the challenge, you scan your challengers again. Imagine the damage that can be done to your business when a client, who has visibly lost fat and gained muscle, receives a scan from a device that uses age and gender estimations and in turn shown them to hold more fat and lost muscle? With InBody, the reliability is unsurpassed. InBody devices will measure you for you, using patented standalone technology and if you are picking a machine based on price, then you still may not completely understand the difference in technology. Quality costs, but you can be assured that when you purchase a device based on the technology instead of the price, you will not need to endure any further issues down the track.

3. Not doing your research on the science

Many devices claim to have science behind them, but you need to investigate further to ensure that any scientific research is done on their exact product. InBody has hundreds of peer-reviewed and validated studies to authenticate the preciseness that InBody has to offer and as such, you will find InBody being used worldwide by Doctors, Elite Level Universities, Fitness Centres and across many more industries.

4. Checking the companies track record

When making such a large investment into your business, you want to make sure that you go with a company that is well known, respected and reliable.

InBody sells an InBody product – not another product which has been rebranded.

Again, it is so important to do your research – not only on the device you are purchasing but also on the company you are buying from. Have they rebranded? Have they changed names? Do they manufacture their own device and if not, who is the manufacturer?

As a worldwide company found in over 70 countries, InBody has an unsurpassed track record and that’s why you should always do your research on the company you’re buying off – they may not be around next week.

5. Checking where the device is found and what credible companies are using it

As a business, marketing is a great tool to bring product and brand awareness, however as a consumer it is important to see the difference between a quality product and a bit of marketing hype.

You want to make sure that the device you choose crosses a broad spectrum of industries. InBody is well represented in many different areas – from medical, universities, fitness, educational, corporate, government and military organisations while also being used by elite level sporting teams and trainers.

InBody has the scientific backing behind it to be used in an array of different fields. For a device to be used in the medical industry, it needs to meet certain criteria and have the right approvals behind it.

InBody is utilised by a range of reputable companies and organisations including Nasa, Virgin Australia, Warner Brothers Entertainment, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Royal Children’s Hospital Melbourne, Harvard University, HIIT Station and many more.

All these companies, and many more, have done their research on InBody machines and found that it’s precise and they continue to use these devices over any others.

There are so many factors that you need to consider when it comes to business. When it comes to making decisions, we are often quick to choose based on pricing alone.

It is so important to do your research, do the tests, do the comparisons and make sure you know the ins and outs of the product. You can spend your entire career building your reputation, but it doesn’t take much for all your hard work to come crumbling down. Don’t let this be the reason for you downfall, let us help take your business to the next level.

InBody is the only non discriminatory BIA

InBody is the only non discriminatory BIA

InBody is the first and only, non-discriminatory BIA method of assessing your body composition.

The InBody device does not use age or gender in an assumption of you. The inputted information asked is simply used to give a guideline to normal ranges (based on age and gender). However, every other device uses these specific inputs to assume what your body composition should/may be. In short, on a non-InBody device, if you change your age and gender – your scan will change.  We ENCOURAGE you to check it out for yourself on the device you are using.

How wrong could it be?

Every BIA device OTHER than InBody, will assume that a male carries more muscle and less fat than a female. In many cases this might be true, but it shouldn’t be assumed. There are plenty of strong, athletic women out there. They may certainly carry more muscle, than a male that doesn’t train.  Do you see how wrong ‘assumptions’ could be?

Likewise, with age, most devices will ASSUME that a 50-year-old female has less muscle and more body fat than a 25-year-old female.  Again, some cases maybe – but definitely nowhere near all.  We see MANY people in the fitness industry that are in incredible condition DESPITE their age.

What about a person who wishes to identify themselves with a certain gender, yet their choice of gender will really change the measurements due to inferior devices making assumptions based on it. If you have a device that claims to be accurate, try changing the age and gender. Watch the scan measurements change dramatically before your eyes, yet you clearly haven’t in the few minutes it took to scan you. Check this video out for the renowned preciseness InBody is famous for.

Our belief is that when somebody decides to get a body scan, they are giving up time and money in exchange for a set of information. Honestly what is the point if the information is not precise? What is the point if you scan again in another 6 weeks and the measurements are so sporadic that you can’t even really compare them?

With InBody you can change your age and/or gender and your scan measurements will not change! Proving the patented technology is truely inovative.

We will never assume based on your Age and Gender.

InBody doesn’t hold your age against you

InBody doesn’t hold your age against you

InBody Body Composition Analysers is very unique, as it doesn’t hold your age against you during your assessment. Other devices always ask for your age, gender and sometimes even ethnicity to be entered. Based on these factors, your body composition is predicted therefore estimated based on this inputed data. Most of these devices assume you would be a certain way, depending on these factors. Simply put, in any of these devices, if you change your age or gender your scan will miraculously change before your eyes, yet YOU have not changed at all (if you don’t believe us – try it on your current device). Check this video out.

An assumption for age would be this, as you get older your body loses muscle and gains more body fat. For some people that might be the case, but there are many people who are in better condition at 40 years of age than they were at 20 years of age.

InBody does not, never has and never will use these assumptions when completing your bio scan.  It simply scans you for you with its patented, stand-alone technology.

With InBody you can change your age and gender and your bio scan will not change. Asking for age and gender is simply used to provide you with a range of healthy guidelines based on these points. These are generally found in brackets, next to your results.

Why is this SO important to me as a customer?

We know that every individual person is totally unique and so should their scan be.

Imagine you are a 22-year-old male, partaking in a 12-week challenge. You have a bio scan at the beginning of the challenge, on an inferior device. This provides some results based on calculations of assumptions about a 22-year-old male. A week before the end of the challenge, you turn 23! The inferior device will NOW scan you as a 23-year-old male and could give some significant result anomalies. The machine is assuming you are a year older than your last scan, when in fact you are only one week older. Age or gender should not be a factor at all in precise scanning. For example, if you got an MRI scan or blood pressure taken, does it matter if you are a certain age or gender? Of course not, as it precisely measures you for you.

InBody is the ONLY bio scan device in the world that does NOT use age and gender as assumptions in your scan measurements.

As an individual – you can be confident in precise, consistent results every time.

As a gym owner or PT – you can deliver the results with confidence, knowing the InBody technology is working with you in delivering precise results with the brand that has significant nationwide and worldwide coverage and for good reason.

InBody – we will not hold your age against you!

Check it out for yourselves.
